About Ristorante da Coco

A Mr Cocò doesn't exist, but a certain Salvatore Di Meglio, once fisherman. He has crewcut, punchy face like a Bulgarian fighter, inaugurated the restaurant in 1963, in one of the most beautiful places of the island, just at the Castello Aragonese foot. Punchy face but smiling at the same time. Being a practical person, doesn't play the violin. The local consists of a glass hall by the three terrace sides, with a sea-view above the Castello Aragonese.

Our special dishes

Our ordinary island dishes are spaghetti with mussel and clam, fish in crazy water and the very good fried fish.
Without removing nothing from the value of spaghetti or fish, we talk for experience. But the fried food is the best Cocò dish. 'You need fresh fish and oil', so Cocò shortly explains. It's not a secret. Dishes are cods and 'sbavaglioni' a kind of small sarago. The cod, but also small soles, are the base of the fried dish: dry, crispy and warm. Special but soft dish, very appreciated also by indigenous and tourists.
Other recommended dishes: anchovies in oil, sea 'lumachine' with tomato sauce, bean and endive soup and some side orders which can be unique for vegetarians. Artichokes with black olives and 'pumarole', salty hot peppers pan fried with a bit fresh tomato..Details. Some decent cheese and wine list would be refreshed. Nothing of memorable for dessert. Quick and kind service, finally an inevitable limoncello.
